Intimate Garden Wedding / Northern Ireland Wedding Photographer

The Kayes wedding…. Ahh what a wedding this was!

Anna & Jonny are two of the loveliest and most laid back people you will ever meet! They decided to do things a little differently on their day.

When Anna contacted me a five weeks before and told me they were planning a back garden wedding in just a few weeks… I knew it was going to be a cracker! I called up a couple days before the wedding to see the house and garden and honestly… I could not have imagined at that stage what they were going to be doing to transform it a few days later!

They put soo much thought into all the little details, and most of it was made by themselves. They worked so hard in such a short space of time and it all came together more perfectly than you can imagine. One of the most important things to them was the sentiment behind it all and these little things were laced throughout the day to make it more meaningful – like Annas dad wearing her Granda’s watch, her wedding band was her nan’s and her locket was her late aunts. As Anna put so beautifully, “All little memories that will last”.

Anna & Jonny actually got married a couple of days before this celebration at City Hall, with just a handful of witnesses present. Every time I spoke to Anna, she just kept saying how she wanted no fuss and to just have fun. Her words were that it was about ‘doing it, getting together and being married’ And that is exactly what they got!

A beautiful stretch tent spanned the garden on a lovely warm summers day. With a hand built bar, a drinks bath, and amazing food from Cafe Q Crossgar.

Also, can we talk about the amazing performance of Annas 6 ft brother as “flower boy”?! He got the party started just before Anna walked down to meet her husband to exchange their vows. From the atmospheric music to his energy, flower grown and confetti cannons, this was one to remember.

A DJ arrived in the evening and kicked off the dancing under the fairy lights while the golden sun set, and desert was provided in a lovely horse box out the front of the house from Lick Gelato! – (yummiest gelato ever – I even got to take a box home!)

You can tell by these photos how much fun, love and laughter was evident throughout the day. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat and I honestly didn’t want to go home!

One of my favourite things about Anna & Jonny and this day, had to be their approach to it all. When we had the pre-wedding call and I was going through the plan for photos, Anna said to me, “Honestly Julie, you just do your thing. You’re the professional, this is your job and I fully trust you that you will capture everything we need and want!” -wow. Having that trust with your photographer is SO important and for me, is such an absolute privilege because it enables us to guide you and capture you in the most candid and genuine way. No fuss, no worrying, just trust.

Heres to you, Mr & Mrs Kayes!
